Professional Biography

Leonora Vekić (b. 1970) is a visual artist and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, where she has been teaching in the Department of Textiles since 2005. She holds a BA and MA from the same faculty, and earned her Doctorate in Arts in the field of textiles in 2022.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Grand Prize of ULUPUDS (2014), recognitions from the Biennial of Tapestry, and awards from the Museum of Applied Arts. Her works are part of several prominent collections, including the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade, Atelier 61 Tapestry Workshop (Petrovaradin), the Slovenia Lek BiH representation, and the Bortolaso-Totaro Foundation (Italy).

Vekić has held 13 solo exhibitions (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Budapest), and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and fashion shows both in Serbia and internationally. Her participation includes events such as the International Triennial of Tapestry (Poland), Seychelles Biennale of Contemporary Art, Miniartextil Como (Italy), Belgrade Fashion Week, and Athens Fashion Week.

She is the author of Superposition, a textile installation selected as the sole representative from Serbia for the upcoming World Stage Design 2025 international exhibition in Sharjah, UAE, in category Space&Object Design.
