Woven Networks

Observing the spatial structure of the net woven by Leonora Vekić as an object that extends through space in variations of open form, we come to understand that we are witnessing a representation of a process of becoming — captured in a phase that is merely a segment, a part of that process, whose beginning and end are beyond perception.
The continuous linking of knots by a single thread finds its analogy in the ongoing emergence of the living world, with its focus on potential in the making.

For the artist herself, the working process resembles a multi-layered dialogue with a fluid form — rational, intuitive, and sensual all at once. The ritual alignment of the weaving rhythm with the inner forces that emerge requires a nuanced response from the author toward the establishment of a final equilibrium.

Light variations are an integral part of this spatial installation. Shadows that stretch and overlap contribute to the strength of the aesthetic-poetic experience, in which the materiality of the net becomes an abstract scene of heightened sensory qualities.

Virtual Networks

The displacement of the spatial net structure into its abstract representation of immeasurable possibilities is achieved by Leonora Vekić through digital media. Video recordings and photographs open up unexplored territories of visual and perceptual experimentation.
The moving camera eye in the video reveals the dynamic nature of the net’s form and its variations. Knots and interweavings, as beginnings of thoughts expanding and stretching through space, become wondrous figures. The different angles and in-between spaces focused on by the camera guide the gaze and thoughts through surprising landscapes.
The networks are both outside and within, opening space — physical and mental…

Digital photographs of framed sections of the spatial net structures create extraordinary scenes and evoke endless associations. Through them, the artist leads us toward realms we have never visited, which we can see only in fleeting flashes of consciousness, in dreams, or mystical moments. Whether they remind us of distant constellations or the transference of organic processes into formal structures, they return us to ourselves — to sense, to be free, and to surrender to the uncharted parts of our being, which always lead somewhere through the beauty of eternal mystery.
